Where Will Your Next Blog Post Come From- Some Tips
As a blogger, at some point you may hit the wall, the well may run dry, etc. It happens to all
bloggers eventually, keep in mind that the all great blogs somehow continue. And yours will too. Has it happened to you already??? What will you do to come up with another post for your blog? Do you have a plan, will you be prepared? Think about it now and know that it will happen, so that you are not too worried when it does. And, note these tips on what to do to get through it-
- Don't panic. It doesn't mean your blog days are over. Every writer has blocks at some point, some worse than others, but it does happen.
- Take a break. Often, it's a result of working too hard and with too much pressure. Stop trying to write, leave the room, get outside for a walk, bike ride, etc. and STOP thinking about the assigment at hand. You have to release yourself from the pressure in order to re-charge.
- Food/Drink. Make sure you're hydrated and nourished. Your body can do weird things when it's running low on these necessitites. (no alcohol though !)
- Check Your Idea List. To help during the lean times, you should always have an "blog post ideas" list of 10-20 suggestions to refer to. Add to this list constantly, especially when the writing is coming more easily.
- When You're Back and Refreshed, surf the internet, stumble, check out the blogs your blogger network (you have one, right). Get some ideas and take notice of what's going on in the world for ideas. If you have a niche blog, also do some research on your topic area.
- Call a friend or fellow blogger. Another break idea to help you recharge and become a person again.
- Take care of business items. If you're in a creative low, spend some time on marketing, advertising, networking and promoting your blog for some time.
- Remember why you're a blogger. Think about why/how you started, the energy, enjoyment and feeling of satisfaction you get from blogging.
You made a yourself a personal commitment to make blogging work. Whether it's for money, personal satisfaction or both, you know you can do it. Don't give up and be discouraged, it's all part of the job!
