BLOGGING CAUSES -As I wrote about a couple weeks back, today, October 15th is Blog Action Day 2008: Poverty. Today thousands of bloggers around the world will unite to discuss a single issue: poverty. We aim to raise awareness, concern, raise money, and most importantly, initiate action thru the true power of the internet. I believe that humanity has yet to fully take advantage of the internet, and especially blogging. These social efforts, with co-operative efforts, like Blog Action Day is a great start. BAD have compliled a list of things to do, 88 Ways to do something about poverty. Please read thru the list and see how mush YOU can do. I've donated personally for this cause and hope that this post will motivate you to do so as well. Donate time, money and/or energy to the many organizations in your community, or to take other positive actions to fight poverty. Wherever you are in the world, poverty exists!!! As former US President Bill Clinton recently said about the impact of current world economic problems;
It's even more important this year to remain united and focused on working towards solving the world's problems, with poverty being one of the most important to solve. Through the efforts of those who care, we can make a difference. Be sure do your part! What are you doing? Let us know...

Great quote from Bill Clinton, I hadn't read it before. Excellent insight.

Great post. I hope you can get your readers to stay focused on the issue of poverty. I wrote about it on my own blog from the perspective of how MBAs can help address the issue... http://marquisweblog.blogspot.com/2008/10/blog-action-day-2008-how-mbas-can-help.html

That's great. I really like Bill Clinton's quote there. I work for a nonprofit that does poverty alleviation/elimination in Kenya, and he's spot on. With things as rough as they are, we all just have to work harder. Cheers!

Thanks for commenting on my post. Everyone should be entitled to the basic freedoms - nearly 3 billion currently live in poverty, so it is essential that we do whatever we can to help them, even if it is with all we can give, small contributions.

It's an amazing way to keep our focus on what matters. Glad you took part today!
Unfortunately, if the economy turns downward as much as people fear, this we can expect to see more poverty around the country. Hopefully our efforts can make a difference during Depression 2.0.
