Is the Blogosphere Dead, Dying or Evolving? Does Your Blog Know?
Blog News - Recently, Nick Carr of Rough Type wrote an interesting post on his blog on thestate of the blogosphere. In it, he expressed concern over the "bloated" state of so many blogs that have gone mainstream and commercial (I guess thru the bloggers success !). He also addressed the issue of how many dormant blogs exist. If you've worked at your blog for any length of time, you know that it's not easy, nor should it be. So, logicly, many people will abandon their new blog out of fear of hard work, lack of interest, etc. Plus, with the ease of setting up new, free blogs, many are established almost on a whim, with the blogger unsure what he/she are getting into. I ask, was a "blogosphere" important, meaningful, or necessary to what true, great bloggers what to accomplish with a blog?
As Carr points out, the only real link between bloggers is their platform; WordPress, TypePadand Blogger. With the wide variety of blogs and bloggers, what does a blogosphere matter? Rather than the number of blogs actively in existence, what is the activity of the blog readers? It's interesting reading, but don't be alarmed at the number of blogs being abandoned. Blogging, like every other new industry must evolve. Don't rely on the initial leaders of the blogging movement to continue to be in the lead. Look for new ways to promote, use, and develop your blog. Sure, the blogosphere is changing. But that's due to the flexibility of blogging platforms and to the fact that blogs, as a medium, have become more popular and more accepted with people using the internet. So, don't be concerned, instead, be focused and one of the driven bloggers that wants to truly succeed. What do you say?; is the blogosphere dead, dying or evolving?
